The 38th session of the Working Party on the Standardization of Technical and Safety Requirements in Inland Navigation (UNECE – Inland Transport Committee) was held from 16 to 18 February 2011 in Geneva which was attended by 27 representatives of 11 countries, as well as the representatives of International Sava River Basin Commission, Danube Commission and Mosel Commission.
The Working Party considered the outcome of the 54th Session of the Working Party on Inland Water Transport, the importance and performance of inland water transport in ECE region, the current situation of the European network of inland waters of international importance, the institutional and regulatory framework of inland navigation in Europe, the Pan-European vision of efficient and sustainable inland water transport, implications of activities of the Working Party on the Standardization of Technical and Safety Requirements in Inland Navigation, mutual recognition of boatmasters’ certificates, European Code for Inland Waterways (CEVNI), аmendments to Resolution No. 61 (Chapters 1 and 2), special provisions for river-sea navigation vessels, minimum technical requirements for computers installed on vessels, Resolution 59, Pan-European Rules on General Average and Limitation of Liability in Inland Navigation, and recreational navigation.
